Zepto, Blinkit, Instamart in Salumbar: what actually delivers here

If you have tried putting 313027 into one of the ten-minute grocery apps, you already know the answer. This is the short version of what does and does not reach Salumbar, and what to do instead.

The ten-minute apps are built for big cities

Zepto, Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart and the rest work by putting a small warehouse every few kilometres inside a city. That model needs the order density of a metro to pay for itself, which is why their service areas are a list of large cities and why a small town pincode usually comes back as "not serviceable".

The right way to check is the app itself - put your pincode in before you build a basket. JioMart delivers to far more pincodes than the ten-minute apps do, but on a next-day or later schedule rather than in minutes, and the range in a small town is narrower than the app suggests.

What that leaves

For Salumbar, home delivery of kirana means a shop in Salumbar doing the delivering. That is what we do - the counter in Sadar Bazar, and someone from the shop bringing the order across town.

What you get from a local shop that an app cannot give you:

• You can ask. "Is this kaju fresh?" gets an answer from someone who opened the sack.
• Loose weight. 150g of something, not a fixed 200g packet.
• No hidden charges. No surge, no handling fee, no small-cart fee. Free over ₹200 and that is the whole of it.
• Somebody is responsible. If something is wrong, you tell us and we replace it. There is no support ticket.

What we will not pretend to give you is ten minutes. Same day if you order before 5 PM, next working day after that. We are closed on Monday.

On this site. Browse, pick weights, pay cash on delivery or settle at the counter. The catalogue is here and it grows every week.

On WhatsApp. The site does not list everything we stock yet - the full kirana range is at the shop. Send the list on WhatsApp and we will price it, pack it and deliver it exactly the same way. For a long monthly list this is still the fastest route, and it is how most of our orders arrive today.

What we actually carry

Dry fruits, whole and ground masala, seeds, mukhwas, dates and the everyday rasoi items. If you are not sure whether we keep something, ask - the answer is usually yes, and it takes one message.
