Everything below is how it actually works today, not a policy page written to sound reassuring. If any of it changes, this page changes with it.
Where we deliver
Salumbar, pincode 313027. That is the whole of it. We are not a warehouse with a van doing districts - we are a shop in Sadar Bazar, and the delivery is someone from the shop bringing your order across town.
If your pincode is not 313027 the checkout will tell you before you get as far as paying, rather than taking the order and cancelling it later.
What it costs
- Delivery is free on orders over ₹200.
- ₹200 is also the minimum order. Below that we cannot send someone out for it - the trip costs more than the order.
There is no surge, no per-item charge and no packing fee. The price on the product page is the price on the bill.
When it arrives
Order before 5 PM and it goes out the same day. After 5 PM it goes out the next working day.
The shop is open 9 AM to 8 PM and closed on Monday. An order placed on a Monday is packed on Tuesday morning.
We do not give a two-hour slot, because with one shop and one town it would be a guess. What we do instead is tell you when the order changes state - you get an email when it is confirmed, and another when the status changes.
How you pay
Two ways, both of them offline:
- Cash on delivery - pay whoever brings it.
- Pay at the counter - order online, settle it when you are next at the shop. Useful for the families who have been buying here for years and prefer it that way.
There is no card or UPI option on the site at the moment. We would rather not list one than list one that half-works.
If nobody is home
Whoever is delivering will call the number on the order. If it cannot be handed over, it comes back to the shop and we try again - nothing is left at a door unattended, because dry fruits and masala left in the sun for an afternoon are not worth having.
You can also put a different name and number on the order, which is what to do if it is going to your parents' house or a shop rather than to you.
What you get for ordering online rather than calling
An invoice as a PDF, by email, the moment the order is placed - worth having when the same household orders every month and somebody wants to know what was spent.
Points, too: 10 points per order plus 1 point for every ₹100, on orders over ₹199. They are added when the order is delivered, not when it is placed, and they last 120 days.
Still easier to phone?
Then phone. The number is on every page of this site and somebody at the counter will take the order down. The website is there because it is faster for some people, not because we have stopped answering the phone.
